Political Challenges
Fred Halliday

Introduction Fred Halliday (below) is one of the world's leading commentators on international relations. In this story he looks at the patterns and challenges facing the world at the beginning of the new millennium. He brings to light the world's political challenges in the future by analysing war in the Far East, South Asia and the Persian Gulf. Halliday suggests that the world economy and our ability to achieve political stability, not necessarily through the Western ideal of democracy, will also be important concerns for the future.
